The Chef's TableThe Chef’s Table owners, Tom and Anya ChapmanIn an e-mail newsletter to patrons Monday night, it says “Chef’s Table says ‘Good-bye.’

“First of all, we would like to thank everyone of you special and beautiful people who have supported us through the last nine years,” the newsletter began. “It has been a joy trying our best to make all of you happy.

“Unfortunately, like many small local businesses, we could not survive the last year. We are closing our doors. Thank you for your efforts in trying to keep us around.

“Thank you for your emotional and financial support over the years. We feel blessed to have shared our lives with you, built relationships with you and look forward to dining and laughing with you again soon. Love, Tom, Anya and the Chef’s Table Staff.”

Last month the Chef’s Table was shut down by the city for owing four months of sales taxes. However, loyal fans came to the rescue and donated the $12,000 needed to clear one of Huntsville’s favorite restaurants to reopen.

But it had also lost its liquor license and no one was allowed to bring alcohol to a fundraiser which wasn’t enough for the family-owned business to weather the economic storm.
