Helena police believe Adrian “T.J.” Glenn Jr. is responsible for 16 robberies at Winn-Dixie stores. (Special)A month-long investigation by Helena Police has resulted in the arrest of a Pinson man believed to be involved in 16 Winn-Dixie robberies during the past year.
Adrian “T.J.” Glenn Jr., 20, is in the Shelby County Jail after turning himself in to U.S. Marshals on Tuesday, said Helena detective Chris Rollan.
Rollan said he expects other cities, including Vestavia Hills, Bessemer and Trussville, to bring charges against Glenn. All had similar robberies during which employees were threatened with a gun. More than $70,000 in cash was taken, Rollan said.
A search by the Helena and Jefferson County swat teams last week resulted in the recovery of evidence that authorities believe connects Glenn to at least four Winn-Dixie robberies, Rollan said.
Glenn is a former employee of a Trussville Winn-Dixie, Rollan said.
A $1 million bond is to be set for the Nov. 16 Helena robbery in which more than $3,000 was taken at gunpoint, Rollan said.
Glenn was charged with first degree robbery and receiving stolen property in that incident, Rollan said. Helena police recovered a stolen motorcycle in the neighborhood behind the Winn-Dixie the day after the robbery.
Rollan said the investigation was long but well worth the time and effort.
“It’s not right for people to not feel safe doing something like going to the grocery store,” Rollan said.
