Original Article: Motor home on fire temporarily shuts down Interstate 65 in Calera

A motor home on fire temporarily shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 this afternoon just north of the Shelby County Airport exit.

The Calera Fire and Rescue Department and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire, which was reported around 1:50 p.m., a Calera dispatcher said.

Traffic was backed up for miles on the interstate. However, it is now flowing freely, with the motor home on the shoulder of the interstate, a Shelby County dispatcher said. No injuries have been reported.
