MOBILE, Alabama — A 17-year-old was arrested today in connection with a break-in last week during which the home’s occupants frightened the teen away, Mobile police said.
Spokesman Officer Christopher Levy said Aaron Johnson was charged with first-degree burglary and altering the identification of a firearm. Johnson, who was booked about 2 p.m., was in Mobile County Metro Jail without bail.
Levy said that Johnson broke into a home in the 300 block of Evergreen Hill in west Mobile about 10:10 a.m. on June 21 through the rear door. But when the occupants confronted him, Johnson ran away, dropping a handgun on the floor as he fled, Levy said.
The handgun’s ID numbers had been tampered with, Levy said. Johnson was identified in the subsequent investigation and arrested today, he said.
