BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Two males, one of them a juvenile, were injured this evening in a shooting at an apartment in the Norwood neighborhood, according to Birmingham police.
Sgt. Pete Williston said the injuries did not appear life threatening and the victims were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
The exact ages of the victims were not known, but Williston said one was a juvenile.
The incident happened about 5 p.m. in the 1700 block of 36th Street North.
Police were questioning witnesses as they tried to piece together what led to the shooting.
Five orange traffic cones marked spots where police found shell casings. Williston said each cone could represent multiple shell casings.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said crime is a problem in the complex — she awoke this morning to find a bullet hole in her front door.
“It’s a shame people have to be afraid to live where they live,” she said.
