MOBILE, Alabama — Two gas station clerks suffered gunshot wounds during robberies Friday night, according to police, who added that the holdups may be related to a shooting that occurred at a gas station the night before.
The first robbery Friday occurred about 9:20 p.m. at the Citgo gas station at 507 Azalea Road. Police said 2 men, at least one of them armed, went into the station. A clerk suffered injuries from a gunshot that police described as not life-threatening.
Police said they believe that the same 2 men robbed the Shell gas station/convenience store at 5001 Cottage Hill Road about 20 minutes later. The robbers demanded money from the clerk, who also suffered a gunshot wound that police said was not life-threatening.
The holdups bear a resemblance to a shooting that occurred during a robbery at a BP gas station at 2909 Spring Hill Ave. about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
“We have not ruled out the possibility that the 2 last night are related to the event on Spring Hill,” Mobile police Maj. Kara Fagan wrote in an email.
The BP robbery marked the forth robbery-related shooting in Mobile in less than a week.
