MOBILE, Alabama — Two Mobile men remain in the Mobile County Metro Jail today each charged with two counts of first-robbery in separate incidents that occured late Tuesday, police said today in a news release.

Fredrick Tyrone Benion, 19, and Tamaray Bernard Rhodes, 18, remain jailed without bail, according to jail records.

According to police about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, three men robbed the Conoco gas station in the 2700 block of Government Boulevard, police said. One robber was armed with a handgun and left with money and cigarettes, police said.

At 11:30 p.m., police said the same men robbed the Waffle House in the 1700 block of Dauphin Island Parkway. One robber took money from the restaurant, police said. 

At 11:45 p.m. the robbers tried to enter the Waffle House in the 3600 block of Government Boulevard, but the front door was locked, police said. They left in a gold four-door Mercury Grand Marquis, police said.

A robbery detective checking the area, saw a vehicle near Cottage Hill Road and Pleasant Valley Road that matched the description of the car. He stopped the car and arrested the two occupants. Money and cigarettes were in the vehicle along with a handgun, police said.

Police continue to search for the third robber, Officer Christopher Levy, police spokesman, said.

Levy said the third man had been dropped off before the detective saw the vehicle.

None of the clerks were injured, he said.

Police have not yet determined if Benion and Rhodes are involved in any of the previous robberies in which two clerks were shot, Levy said.

“We will compare them to several open cases to see if they are involved in other robberies or any other crimes,” he said.
