An official told the paper the removed material would cover a football field eight feet high in debris.
In mid-May, Charles Borden, president of the Lake Martin Resource Association, surveyed the lake and said he saw appliances, furniture, lumber, Sheetrock, plywood, insulation — “everything it takes to build a house, and everything that’s in a house.”
Officials had been concerned for boater safety because the cleanup work had stalled.
