BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Alabama Emergency Management Agency officials are continuing a detailed recount this afternoon of fatalities from last week’s tornadoes.
State EMA officials are trying to talk to county coroners in each county to get a precise list of deaths in those counties.
It’s a very tedious process, which began Monday, EMA officials said. EMA officials were not sure when the recount would be completed or published.
The state EMA had listed 250 killed over the weekend, but on Monday was listed at 236.
