MONTGOMERY, Alabama — The board of the Alabama Lawyers Association announced it will dedicate half of the proceeds from its inaugural golf tournament to those in Alabama affected by tornadoes and storms that swept through the state on April 27, 2011.

The tournament is scheduled for Thursday at Pine Tree Country Club in Birmingham. The four-man scramble begins with registration at 7:15 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Golfers will player 18 holes (with cart), have lunch and receive gift bags. Registration is $110 per player or $400 per team. The tournament is limited to 44 golfers.

To register, or if you would like to make a donation through ALA to assist storm victims, contact Wyndall Ivey, Golf Tournament Chair, at (205) 226-0342 or email wivey@iveylawgroup.com; or contact ALA President Larry Golston at 800-898-2034, or email larry.golston@beasleyallen.com.

Additional proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit ALA’s Law Student Summer Clerkship Program (LSSCP), which promotes diversity in the legal profession by providing qualified law students meaningful legal experience with various law firms, government agencies and departments and other legal entities throughout the state.
