MONTGOMERY, Alabama –The state Republican Party has moved the location of its summer dinner, featuring Texas Gov. Rick Perry as guest speaker, because of a big demand for tickets, party spokeswoman Shana Kluck said Thursday.
State Republicans had reserved a room that seats about 600 people, but sold 600 tickets and had 300 people on a waiting list, Kluck said, so they switched locations to a room at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel that she said could handle 2,000 people.
“We’ve got another month and a half to promote this event, and of course, if Gov. Perry decides he will run for president and makes an announcement, that will increase demand,” Kluck said.
A general admission ticket for the Aug. 12 dinner, which starts at 7 p.m., costs $150.
Interested people may call the state party headquarters in Homewood, at 212-5900.
