Enlarge Michelle Campbell — The Birmingham News An emergency shelter is set up at Boutwell Auditorium for area residents devastated by the tornadoes that ripped through Birmingham and surrounding areas on Wednesday. A partnership between the city of Birmingham and the Red Cross, the shelter is in need of first aid supplies, bottled beverages, and individually packaged food items, Terry Powell, a registered nurse with the Red Cross, said.
