ANNISTON, Alabama — Nearly 30 people gathered on the steps of the Calhoun County Courthouse Friday morning to protest what they call corruption in the local justice system. The protesters specifically focused on Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson and video published by The Anniston Star two months ago that shows him using manual force on a shackled 14-year-old boy.
The Star reports local activist Abdul Khalil’llah, leader of Operation Human Rights Inc., led the event, which included a march from Anniston’s Zinn Park to the courthouse.
