MONTGOMERY, Alabama — The process of selecting nine trustees for Auburn University is starting again from scratch.
The Auburn trustees selection committee agreed today to Gov. Robert Bentley’s suggestion that they start again the process of selecting candidates to fill nine vacancies on the board. The committee headed by the governor last month recommended nine candidates to the Alabama Senate, including the reappointment of former banker Bobby Lowder.
Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh blocked action on the nine and Lowder withdrew his name from consideration.
At Wednesday’s meeting at the Capitol of the selection committee, Bentley set up a new process of interviewing and nominating candidates. He said he hopes the committee will have new names to recommend to the Senate when the 2012 session of the Legislature begins in February.
