ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office announced the seizure of more than $200,000 worth of drugs, guns and cars today, along with the arrest of a “career drug dealer.”

James Leroy Harris, 37, was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine Thursday night in an apartment in Daphne’s Ashley Gates complex, where police found 2 kilograms of cocaine, a laser-guided assault rifle, a 9 mm handgun, scales, Lortab pills and $5,000 in cash.

Investigators also seized two vehicles — a 2007 silver Nissan Maxima and a 2006 candy apple red BMW — where some of the drugs were found, according to Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack Jr.

The month-long investigation by the Baldwin County Drug Task Force that lead to Harris’s arrest involved undercover drug purchases and distribution surveillance, Mack said.

“This is just indicative of why we must have the cooperative law enforcement effort to address this and get this drug off our streets,” Mack said.

Authorities said Harris, who is weeks away from serving an 18-month sentence on an attempted drug trafficking conviction in Mobile County, had operated on both sides of the Mobile Bay.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Anthony Lowery called Harris a “career drug dealer.”

Harris is expected to appear in Baldwin County Court for a bond hearing Monday, according to the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office.

Harris could face additional charges, Mack said.

Separately, the sheriff announced the arrest of Danielle Wilson, who also faces a drug trafficking charge after investigators found 8 pounds of marijuana plants when they asked to search her Summerdale home. She is being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center on a $1 million bail.

Authorities are searching for her husband, Jason Patrick Wilson, 24, who was not home at the time.
