BESSEMER, Alabama — Bessemer police report tonight that the one person arrested in connection with fights at the Alabama Adventure water and theme park on Monday was charged with inciting a riot.

The 15-year-old boy was released to his parents.

Numerous fights at the park on Monday afternoon prompted a rush to the park by Bessemer and Hueytown police, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies and ambulances and led to an exodus of park guests.

Bessemer police said they cleared the park to get control of the situation. Park officials said they never actually closed the park but, with the help of police, were able to remove the juveniles who were involved in “scuffles.”

Park officials also said today they believed a $10 discount admission price before 10 a.m. on Mondays contributed to Monday’s situation because it attracted a lot of unsupervised juveniles. The park has canceled that promotion for the rest of this season.
