Birmingham city schools will be back in session Monday and transportation will be provided to South Hampton Elementary, Daniel Payne Middle School and Jackson-Olin High School from area shelters housing families displaced by Wednesday’s tornadoes.
In addition, a help line will be set up at 9 a.m. Monday for anyone with questions about school-related issues and questions about the storms, said Michaelle Chapman, spokeswoman for Birmingham city schools. The number is 231-4739.
Extra staff will be on hand at South Hampton Elementary, Daniel Payne Middle and Jackson-Olin High School to help students get settled.
Chapman said she was informed today that all schools had power restored, which kept students out Thursday and Friday.
