BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Two Birmingham men and a teenager looking to make a quick dollar by burglarizing a home, shot and killed a woman Sunday morning and set fire to her home to cover the crime, Birmingham police said today.

The three suspects — Brandon Hill, 20, Justin Stinson, 20, and Jonathan Weston, 17 — are in the Birmingham City Jail charged with capital murder, said Sgt. Johnny Williams.

“They were out looking to do a burglary, make some money,” said Sgt. Sam Noblitt.

They saw a TV on inside the 820 Fourth Court West home of 31-year-old Classheka Norman.

“They kicked the door in and wound up shooting the victim and setting fire to the house” to cover their tracks, Noblitt said.

The suspects took Norman’s gray 2009 Chevrolet HHR — later found abandoned on South Park Drive — and her flat-screen TV, a laptop computer and an XBOX, Noblitt said.

The fire at the home brought firefighters and police, who found Norman dead inside.

Noblitt said police were at first concerned Norman’s 8-year-old son had been at home at the time of the crime.

“Finding him was our first priority, but fortunately (Norman) had dropped him off at a relative’s” prior to the home invasion, Noblitt said.

Two suspects have admitted being involved, but one did not, Noblitt said. He would not identify which two had given statements.

Norman was a 1997 graduate of West End High School, according to News records.

A resume Norman posted online in October said she had worked at the Homewood Wal-Mart. However, Norman was looking for a job in medical billing at a hospital or clinic after studying the field at Tri-State Institute.

“I bring three key strengths to the table: an outgoing personality, great communication skills, and a willingness to learn,” she wrote.
