BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Birmingham police are investigating a fatal shooting this morning. West Precinct officers discovered the victim in the street just before 1 a.m when they responded to a call of shots fired in the 2100 block of Avenue Z.

Police have not released the identity of the victim. No arrests have been made.
