ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Alabama — A Blount County man was killed and four others injuried in a one-vehicle crash that occurred this weekend on Interstate 65 near Flomaton, Alabama State Troopers said today in a news release.
Andrew Chanse Williams, 20, of Cleveland, was killed in the crash that occurred about 6:15 p.m. Saturday on southbound I-65, about 18 miles north of Flomaton, troopers said.
Williams was killed when the 2003 Ford Explorer in which he was a passenger left the roadway and overturned in a ditch, troopers said. Williams and three other passengers were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle, troopers said. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not ejected, officials said.
The names of those injured were not released.
Williams was pronounced dead at North Baldwin Hospital, troopers said. All other occupants of the vehicle were transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center to be treated for their injuries, troopers said.
