JOSEPHINE, Alabama — They came by car, by boat, by Jet Ski. The came as they were: shorts, swimsuits, bikinis … whatever. And they came for a good cause: 3 days of delights to benefit High Hopes, an Elberta-based early intervention program for preschool-age children with developmental delays.
It was the annual Illuminating Autism “Funraiser” weekend at Pirates Cove and BW, the Gulf Coast’s premier weekend entertainment magazine from Biloxi to the Florida Panhandle, wouldn’t miss it.
BW independent photographer Cindy McCrory took in Sunday’s “Funraiser” action and came back with this 80-picture BW Scene Shots photo gallery.
Pirates Cove is a distinctive waterfront venue tucked away in the southeast corner of Baldwin County. The event features music from Todd Simpson and Mojo Child on Friday night; Delta Reign, Big Muddy and Grayson Capps & the Lost Cause Minstrels on Saturday and Fat Man Squeeze and Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band on Sunday.
There was also a draw-down in which 450 tickets were sold for $100 each and one lucky winner took home a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. Other fund-raisers included a “Surf and Turf” poker run Saturday, a raffle for an 18th-century Spanish coin, and silent auctions Saturday and Sunday.
BW regularly visits Gulf Coast events and nightlife venues for its popular Scene Shots photo galleries.
