CENTER POINT, Alabama – Authorities today released the identities of a couple killed Tuesday in a house fire in Center Point.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Jackie Reynolds Young, 56 and Frederick Charles Young, 62.

The couple, once homeless, had been living with friends at the house at 405 21st Ave. N.E. for a couple of years, authorities said.

A neighbor called deputies and firefighters about 11:40 a.m. to report flames coming from the home. It was fully engulfed by the time they arrived. Firefighters found Frederick Young’s body in the foyer of the home. He was pulled to the outside where he was pronounced dead.

Once the blaze was extinguished, they found Jackie Young’s body in the back bedroom.

The case remains under investigation, but authorities said it appears the blaze started in the kitchen and was accidental.
