BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — The deadline is approaching for Alabama tornado survivors to apply for federal disaster assistance.
Officials say June 27 is the last day for residents to register for aid with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It’s also the deadline to submit an application for a disaster loan with the Small Business Administration.
Officials say about 81,000 people in Alabama have registered for disaster assistance. FEMA has approved some $53 million in assistance for individuals and households.
The Small Business Administration has approved low-interest disaster loans totaling about $38 million.
