DOTHAN, Alabama — The city of Dothan is hosting the 2011 Miracle League World Series for players with special needs.
The Dothan Eagle reports that the weekend series features teams from Moody, Cullman, Tallahassee, Florida, and more than a dozen from Dothan. It’s the first time the city has hosted the event.
League organizers said the games are designed for mentally or physically challenged players.
Mark Kelly, the president of the Dothan Miracle League Board of Directors, said baseball is America’s pastime and everyone deserves a chance to play.
Three games at set for Sunday and seven games are scheduled for Monday.
