Author: DOTHAN, Alabama — Dothan Police arrested Willie Edward Franklin, 26, for first-degree arson and second-degree burglary Monday after allegedly setting fire to his girlfriend’s home.
The DPD and fire department responded to a fire at Martin Homes on April 29 before investigating and signing warrants to arrest Franklin for the domestically motivated crime.
Police said the fire was set in the residence of Franklin’s girlfriend, though the house was unoccupied at the time.
On Monday, police responded to an assault in Johnson Homes and learned Franklin was involved. Night shift patrolmen immediately located Franklin on Mobile Street where a short foot pursuit resulted in his arrest.
