GURLEY, Alabama — Parts of eastern Madison County lost power for about 10 minutes this morning when a TVA substation in Gurley temporarily lost service, according to Huntsville Utilities.
The outage affected several thousand customers, but TVA was able to restore power quickly to the “delivery point substation,” Huntsville Utilities said in a news release.
“As we have said, the feeds from TVA are still fragile. We don’t have specifics yet, but this morning’s outage in the Gurley delivery point was because TVA’s feed was lost,” stated utility spokesman Bill Yell.
TVA notified Huntsville Utilities that crews were surveying the lines feeding the Gurley station to determine to cause of the interruption.
Huntsville Utilities continues to encourage customers to use electricity wisely until all the connections to TVA are restored to a normal condition, Yell said.
