Birmingham firefighters are battling a blaze at a Southside apartment complex tonight.
Residents are being evacuated from the Building Trades Towers and flames are shooting from a ninth-floor window.
The building is not far from Brother Bryan Park on Southside at 2021 10th Avenue South.
William Arnold, 63, said he was asleep in his ninth-floor apartment when he was awakened by the sound of smoke alarms and someone beating on his door.
“I came out in the hall and there was so much smoke I could hardly see,” he said.
