FLAG MAKING & PARADE. Oak Mountain State Park, Campground Pavilion. 10 a.m. Make flags and other patriotic crafts at the Campground Pavilion. 620-2520.

FOURTH OF JULY FESTIVAL. Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1720 Oxmoor Road, Homewood. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Food, rummage sale, entertainment, kids’ activities and a raffle, featuring a Toyota Yaris as the grand prize. 420-8387.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 1776. American Village, 3727 Alabama 119, Montevallo. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Food, costumed historical interpreters, pie-eating contest, sack races, fireworks. www.americanvillage.org.

BIRMINGHAM BARONS. Regions Park, Hoover. 6 p.m. The Barons take on the Mobile BayBears, followed by fireworks.

PATRIOTIC MUSIC. UAB Campus Green. 7:30 p.m. A free concert featuring the UAB Summer Band.

THUNDER ON THE MOUNTAIN. Atop Red Mountain. 9 p.m. Fireworks simulcast on Fox 6 and WZZK-FM. If you can see Vulcan on the mountain, you can see the fireworks.
