MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Governor Robert Bentley has called a special election to fill two legislative seats, the governor’s office announced tonight.
The election will fill the seats of state Rep. Owen Drake, R-Leeds, who died last month, and state Rep. Greg Canfield, R-Vestavia Hills, who was appointed last week to serve as director of the Alabama Development Office.
The primary election for both districts will be held Tuesday, August 30.
If a primary runoff is necessary, it will be held on October 11 with a general election following on November 29.
If a runoff is not necessary, the general election will be October 11.
