BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a man beaten to death this morning on Birmingham’s Southside.
Police were called to 913 24th Street South in the Southtown public housing community just after 2:15 a.m. on a report of someone assaulted.
Officers found the man with head wounds, said Birmingham police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams Jr. He was taken to UAB Hospital were he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said the victim was beaten and kicked by a group of males. None of the attackers are in custody, Williams said.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is reported trying to confirm the man’s identity through fingerprints.
Anyone with information about the slaying is asked to called police at 254-1764 or Crimestoppers at 254-7777.
