GULF SHORES, Alabama — With one week before performances begin, workers were busy in the sands Thursday preparing the staging areas for the sold-out Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores.
Work included construction of a sound barrier made of hay bales and placement of the pad for the main stage. On Sunday, construction of the stage rigging assembly is expected to begin, said Shaul Zislin, festival organizer.
The Hangout Music Festival takes place May 20-22 at the base of Alabama 59. The event is expected to draw 35,000 people each day, with performers such as Paul Simon, Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys and My Morning Jacket.
