MOBILE, Alabama — Heavy holiday weekend congestion at both the eastbound Wallace and Bankhead tunnels has traffic backed up for miles.
Motorists have reported eastbound traffic on Interstate 10 is moving at a crawl from the Dauphin Island Parkway interchange all the way to the Wallace Tunnel. And Alabama Department of Transportation webcams show eastbound traffic on the I-10 Bayway also heavily congested and moving slowly.
Drivers on eastbound Government Street in Mobile are finding slow-going as well, with traffic crawling along from at least Ann Street to the Bankhead Tunnel.
Motorists may want to consider taking the Africatown-Cochrane Bridge route across the Mobile River, following eastbound Bay Bridge Road from Interstate 165.
