MONTGOMERY, Alabama — The 17th Annual Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour will make its third stop in the River Region on June 6 at Montgomery Motorsports Park from noon until 6:30 p.m.

The tour is presented by GM Performance Division and will kick off on June 4 in Florida and finish in Michigan after visiting seven cities in seven days.

Before visiting Montgomery, the tour will have stopped in Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Valdosta, Ga. It will continue through Nashville, Indianapolis, Muskegon, Mich., and Detroit.

The event lets thousands of performance car enthusiasts tag along on the 1,600-mile haul while also providing daily car shows for spectators and one-day participants, featuring high-end hot rods, street rods, custom trucks, muscle cars and street machines on display.

Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Vice President Dawn Hathcock said she expects the tour to leave an estimated impact of $1.2 million on the city and county.

At each stop on the tour, more than 80 premiere automotive and after-market manufacturers will set up a traveling performance fair with booths and displays for car enthusiasts.

The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau is also planning activities for visiting participants after the day’s activities commence at Montgomery Motorsports Park.

The Downtown Hot Rod Festival will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Union Station Train Shed and will include a free concert from rising country music star Skyler from 7:30-9 p.m. Cars from the tour will also be on display along Commerce and Tallapoosa Streets.
