HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – Police responded to the shooting of a male around 3 p.m. today at Super 8 Motel, located at 3803 University Drive.

Debra McLemore, a witness to the crime and motel employee, said she was working downstairs in the laundry room when she heard three gunshots. She immediately ran upstairs to room 200 on the second floor where she saw the victim.

“They (unidentified occupants in the room) screamed ‘he just shot him’ and I said shot who?,” McLemore said. “I asked ‘son, are you shot?

“I knew it was a young guy in that room,” said McLemore, who also said she heard the boy is 18, the same age as her son. “He’s been there a while.”

McLemore said she went to the bathroom and got a towel where she held it on the victim’s wound.

“Blood was gushing,” she said. “I told him to calm down and the ambulance is coming.”

McLemore said she saw drugs and money laying on the table inside the room. When asked what type of drugs, she said “all I saw was marijuana.” She also said the unidentified occupants in the room “took stuff out” of the room before police arrived at the scene.

“It’s all on video,” said McLemore, who noted there are cameras in the motel’s hallways. “They had it on video a guy with two guns in his hands.”

McLemore said she heard there were other men with the alleged gunman.

“There were three or four,” she said. “I’m not sure … it’s all on video.

“All over drugs,” said McLemore as she shook her head.

Around 4 p.m. seven patrol cars were still at the motel.

The Times called law enforcement authorities, and are waiting on a response.
