This satellite image, provided to The Birmingham News by Geoeye, a spatial imagery service based in Herndon, Va., was captured 423 miles above the earth on April 28, 2011, at 11:35 a.m., one day after powerful tornadoes ripped through Tuscaloosa, killing dozens in its 80-mile path.
