TRUSSVILLE, Alabama — Authorities have filed charges against an 18-year-old man in Thursday’s shooting and robbery attempt near Trussville.
Delvin Lamar Hunter is charged with attempted murder and first degree robbery. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $90,000.
Hunter was arrested at his Valley Road home shortly after the morning incident. His aunt, Nora Robertson, is charged with hindering prosecution, said Jefferson County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
Sheriff’s deputies were called on a reported shooting in the 5700 block of Service Road. The 51-year-old victim, shot in the arm, told authorities someone he knew came to his house to sell him a cell phone.
While the two were talking, the acquaintance pulled a pistol and shot the victim in the arm, Authorities have not released the victim’s name.
The victim got his own pistol and returned fire, shooting twice but missing the assailant.
The victim was taken to UAB Hospital where he was treated for his wound. He was able to give authorities the name of the shooter.
