Jefferson County schools will reopen Tuesday at 9 a.m. Buses will run one hour later than normal, but all faculty and staff should report at their regular time.
For the immediate future, the Transporation Department will be unable to operate many of its buses on various secondary roads and some students may need to be picked up on main roads and highways, said Superintendent Phil Hammonds.
If your child’s bus route is impacted by road conditions, your school will contact you by by way of schoolcast this afternoon or evening, he said.
Additional guidance counselors are being assigned to schools throughout the district beginning Tuesday.
