BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Mother Lee Ella Mims Moorer, the seventh child of 15 children and the mother of 12, died Sunday, July 10, at her Bay Minette home. She was 91.

Moorer was born Jan. 25, 1920, to Sam and Mary Lymon Mims. In 1939, she married Eunis Moorer and their marriage produced 12 children. A son, Jerry “JD” Moore, preceded her in death.

Moorer was educated in Monroe County and continued her education at the North Baldwin Center of Technology. She owned and operated a day care center for many years. In 1950, Moorer gave her life to God and joined the Old Ship Church of God in Christ (now McGee Memorial Temple COGIC).

“She remained steadfast, faithful, loyal and dedicated until her death,” relatives said in her obituary.

Survivors include: 6 sons, Jesse Moorer, Walter Moorer, Preston Moorer, and Jeffrey  Moorer, all of Bay Minette, Ronnie Moorer of Daphne and Curtis Moorer of Mobile; 5 daughters, Eunice Stevens Sr. of Stockton, Eulean Pollock of Mobile, Ceola Dubose of Whistler, Mary Moorer of Saraland and ArthaRee Peavy of Bay Minette; a sister, Elnora Wagner of Los Angeles; 37 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
