BAY MINETTE, Alabama — A man accused of impersonating a police officer waived his arraignment in Baldwin County Circuit Court last week.
Sean Christopher Scott, 32, entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
According to a Baldwin County sheriff’s official, Scott stopped another car in Baldwin County in August, identified himself as an off-duty undercover police officer and told the driver to slow down. The indictment further alleges that Scott asked to see the person’s drivers license and wrote down or pretended to write down the vehicle’s tag number.
Scott has denied the allegations. Earlier this month, Scott told the Press-Register that the vehicle had been behind him on Leiterman Road near Baldwin County 95 near Elberta. The driver pulled in front of him and slammed on the brakes, nearly causing a crash, according to Scott. He said that when he encountered the vehicle again near Baldwin County 97, he tried to get the driver’s name and tag number. Scott claims he responded “no” when the driver asked if he was a police officer.
No trial date had been set as of Friday, court records showed.
