Author: It was 72 degrees at 6 a.m. in Birmingham and central Alabama is locked into summer, according to the National Weather Service.
In the forecast, today should be sunny with a high near 94 degrees. There will be a chance of rain and isolated storms this afternoon.
That forecast is likely to be good through the work week. Temperatures will climb one or 2 degrees higher by Wednesday and Thursday, plus the rain chance may be slightly higher on Wednesday but otherwise there appears little expected difference day-to-day.
