Michael Edward Perkins died on Saturday, a few days after his 27th birthday.
A native of Mobile, Perkins was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as an infant, “but never let that stop him from living life and inspiring others,” his obituary states.
A lover of the outdoors, Perkins earned black belts in two different schools of martial arts and taught children at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in his spare time.
“He was always ready to play or use his slapstick antics to make anyone and everyone laugh or blush,” his obituary says.
Perkins is survived by a wife and a daughter, among other survivors.
“Michael left this world a true hero and fighter,” his obituary says. “He was one of a kind and his family is overjoyed and blessed to have had him even for this very short lifetime.”
