Author: MIDFIELD, Alabama – The Midfield City Council tonight set June 13 as the date for a vote to rezone land for a park near a proposed western area health center.
The council held a public hearing on the proposed park, which the Jefferson County Health Department plans to build as part of a $15 million health center at the former site of the Vending Company headquarters.
The city’s planning board approved rezoning the land for the park from residential to business and it now must get council approval.
In other action, the council placed a moratorium on pawn shops and payday loan businesses in the city. There are currently 10 pawn/payday loan businesses operating within a one-mile radius in Midfield.
