MOBILE, Alabama — Mobile police on Saturday evening arrested a 38-year-old Mobile man they say was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol when he struck a juvenile on his bicycle on Thompson Drive North.

David McBride of 902 Gulf Terra Drive was arrested after the juvenile was struck by a Chrysler Sebring driven by McBride at about 5:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Thompson Drive North, Mobile police said today in a news release.

The juvenile was treated and released at the University of South Alabama Medical Center.

McBridge was charged with DUI, second-degree possession of marijuana, third-degree assault. He remains in Mobile County Metro Jail, according to the jail log.

Taco Bell bandit sought

In a second weekend crime incident reported Monday, at about 7:15 Sunday, a robber entered the Taco Bell restaurant at 1115 Government St., produced a handgun and jumped the counter, police said in a news release. The robber pointed a handgun at the employees and demanded money and the employees complied.

The bandit then jumped back over the counter and fled north across Government Street, police reported.

The suspect was described as a black male; 6 feet, 2 inches to 6 feet, 4 inches tall; in his early 20s; dark-skinned; and wearing a navy blue, hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black gloves, blue bandana over the face and sunglasses. He was armed with a black, semiautomatic handgun.
