MOBILE, Alabama — Mobile police arrested 19-year-old Kendrick Johnson in the shooting of a 15-year-old male victim, police said today in a news release.
Johnson, of Mobile, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. Johnson remained jailed tonight with bail set at $7,500, according to Mobile County Metro Jail records.
Police said that on Wednesday, Johnson got out of a gray sport utility vehicle on Wednesday when he saw the 15-year-old walking in the 1800 block of La Pine Drive. Police said Johnson fired a handgun at the victim, who ran and was struck in the back by a bullet.
The victim was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury, police said.
Police said that Johnson and the victim have had an ongoing dispute.
