SARALAND, Ala. — A motorist was shot Tuesday while driving along Interstate 65 in Saraland, and police are appealing to the public to help find the assailant.
Saraland police spokesman Sgt. Leroy Smith said the victim was taken to University of South Alabama Medical Center for treatment after the incident, which took place sometime between 2:15 and 2:45 p.m.
The victim’s condition was not available Wednesday evening.
The incident took place in the southbound lanes in a stretch of I-65 south of the U.S. 43 exit in Creola. I-65 runs for several miles through Saraland, from about a mile north of Celeste Road to the Chickasabogue bridge south of Industrial Parkway.
Smith said two vehicles, a silver 2009 Chevrolet pickup and a maroon 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe were both southbound when shots were fired from one vehicle to the other. Smith did not say which vehicle contained the victim and which contained the shooter.
Smith said anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw anything that might solve the case should call Saraland police at 251-675-5331.
