LOS ANGELES — The Lifetime Television’s Network’s new show “Vanished” starring Natalee Holloway‘s mother premiered Monday night with a simple statement from Beth Holloway as its premise: “I know what it’s like to have a child go missing.”

The missing Mountain Brook teen’s mother’s new show explores real-life mysteries of families who have been victimized by “unsolved abductions, disappearances and unspeakable crimes,” according to a Lifetime news release.

In the first episode, however, Beth Holloway first set up her own story, talking about Natalee Holloway’s disappearance in 2005 during a senior class trip to Aruba. That story, of course, then comes to involve Joran van der Sloot, who looms as a possible suspect, though no one has been brought to justice in the case.

After talking emotionally about her own story, one an Alabama audience knows all too well, Beth Holloway turned her attention to a family that went missing along the Mexican border.

Lifetime says it has ordered 10 episodes of “Vanished” and the show’s website solicits people who have stories to tell to get in touch with the show’s producers.

In the words of Lifetime, Beth Holloway is “a passionate advocate for these families,” offering “her unique insight into each case, dedicating her intensely personal point-of-view and empathy to family and loved ones seeking answers.”

In the show, Beth Holloway goes on location to conduct interviews, talks about the facts of the cases and relives pivotal moments. The show is produced by Jupiter Entertainment. Stephen Land, whose credits include “City Confidential” and “Sons of Guns,” serves as executive producer, along with Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy and Colleen Conway of Lifetime Television.

Lifetime has the first episode available for viewing online. You can watch Holloway talk about her new show in a CBS video below:
