Author: PRICHARD, Alabama — A party in a Prichard rental hall turned deadly early Saturday morning, with one man fatally shot and another seriously wounded, Prichard police said.
Police Chief Jimmie Gardner said Desiree Maye, 36, was shot once in the chest about 1:45 a.m. and was taken to University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he later died.
The other victim, 27-year-old Keith Nelson, was shot in the face, Gardner said. Nelson was taken by private car to USA Medical Center and was listed in critical condition Sunday night, according to Gardner.
The incident took place at a rental hall at 911 S. Wilson Ave. Gardner said the hall, about three-fourths of a mile south of downtown Prichard, is frequently used for parties.
No arrests had been made as of Sunday night. Gardner said the case remained under investigation, and he aked that anyone who witnessed the shooting to call Prichard police at 251-452-2211.
