HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – NASA’s 30-year-old space shuttle program comes to an end in a few weeks with the July flight of the orbiter Atlantis. Along the way, more than 130 shuttle flights have boosted satellites, built a space station, forged better international ties and increased American understanding of life and work in space.
Do you have a particular memory or thought to share with Times‘ readers about this program that constitutes nearly 75 percent of the world’s entire manned space history? Did you witness an unforgettable launch or touchdown? Did you work on the shuttle through the years? What are your thoughts as the program ends?
Send your stories by the close of business Friday to Times NASA reporter Lee Roop at lee.roop@htimes.com or add them as comments to this post. As space permits, your stories will be part of a special report commemorating the shuttle that will run in the paper Sunday, July 3.
