PRICHARD, Alabama — A 38-year-old man was found dead in a home in Prichard Friday afternoon, and an autopsy revealed he had been shot to death, Prichard police said.
Police chief Jimmie Gardner identified the victim as Willie Folid. He said Folid’s mother called police about 4 p.m. Friday and said he had not been seen for several days.
When police went to his home in the 4000 block of University Boulevard, they found Folid’s body inside, Gardner said. He said Folid’s body was decomposing, and it was turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.
The autopsy revealed a fatal bullet wound, and a homicide investigation was started, Gardner said.
Gardner said that the person who killed Folid was familiar to him, and the crime did not appear to be a random act such as a robbery or home invasion.
There was no sign of forced entry at the home, and Folid’s car, money and wallet were all accounted for at the scene, Gardner said.
The home is on part of the extended section of University Boulevard between Bear Fork and Lott roads.
Gardner said anyone who has information about Folid’s death should call Prichard police at 251-452-2211.
