TALLADEGA, Alabama — A water leak that caused Talladega to lose enough water each day to fill more than four Olympic swimming pools might be repaired, officials said Wednesday night.

The leak was isolated about 4 p.m. and pressure began to build, said Steve Dover, public information officer for the Talladega County Emergency Management Agency.

But, he noted, it was too soon to tell if the problem had been resolved once and for all.

“Getting the pressure to build and hold is the first step,” Dover said. “It’s a step in the right direction.”

Talladega City Manager Brian Muenger, in an email to The Daily Home newspaper Wednesday evening, said residents are still asked to boil water and conserve water.

The city will continue to distribute bottled water until they are sure water service has been fully restored, Muenger wrote in that email.
